Help Us Make Classic Art Tokens 2.0

Work has begun on Classic Art Tokens 2.0 (name is still pending, should have a final version soon).  Playmats, Tokens, new products, they are all currently under development and on track for a September launch date.

I know several of you want to buy single Tokens from the first project, so we are working on that as well.  Busy, busy, busy.

Before we get into some details about 2.0 (I know, so cruel) I wanted to let you all know about two free events that we are sponsoring/organizing in August.

First up is a Vintage Artist Constructed tournament at Gen Con on Saturday at 11AM.

If you've never heard about Vintage Artist Constructed, you can read more about it here.

Anyone that is interested just needs to show up at the Pastimes Booth in the Card Gaming Hall at 11AM on Wednesday and be ready to play the best format out there.

Free Tokens for anyone that plays and a Full Set to the winner.  We had 4 people show up last year, hopefully we can do a bit better this time.

Ahhh GP Portland, I have such great plans for you.

Not only will we have a Booth at the event, selling Tokens, Playmats, and possibly some Original Art, we are also organizing another Vintage Artist Constructed event at the show.

Details still need to be worked out with the organizer, but we are currently planning on starting the event at 2PM on Saturday where ever we can secure some space in the hall.

Free Tokens, Full Sets and a Framed Uncut Sheet of Tokens to the Winner, all with no entry free. 

The Good Stuff

While we are excited for the events at Gen Con and GP Portland, we are even more excited to share some details about the next Kickstarter.

Brand New Art

While every Token will have new art, there will be some repeat Token types from the first project. 

There won't be too many of them as we really want to get to the obscure gems found in various card games, but we couldn't resist including some new takes on the most popular tokens.

Brand New Tokens

Oh yeah, bring on the good stuff. 

There are over 200 types of Tokens used in various card games, and while we may not be able to make them all, we certainly want to make as many as we possibly can.

We played around a bit with this idea with the Poison, Storm and Experience Tokens in the first project.  Expect even more like these in the next Project.

How you can help!

We are still putting together the list of Tokens to include in the next project and we are looking for your input.

Please reply with a comment to this update with your Top 5 Tokens that you want to see included in Classic Art Tokens 2.0.

Any repeats from the previous project are fine to include and would have all new art, but we are also looking for the Tokens that we missed on the first go 'round, those obscure, corner cases that I know you yearn for.

Top 5 Lists will be compiled until Friday of next week (with some leeway, but come on, work with me here).

I can't wait to see what you all have to say.

Shipping is Complete!

We got the last few stragglers out to the post office today so we are officially, aside from a few incomplete surveys, unpaid Add Ons and a bad address, done with fulfillment!

Almost 1900 orders done in a bit more than a week, yowza!

Exceptions

We have sent out tracking notifications to everyone so if you have not received the email and have not received your Reward, please contact me or leave a comment below so we can figure out the hold up. 

International Shipments can take a while to get the final destination and tracking can get a bit spotty crossing borders, so you may want to allow a bit more time for your package to arrive.

You can view the progress of your package and track via USPS through your Survey, under the Shipping tab.  If you need any assistance or run into any problems, please let me know.

From the very deepest depths of my heart I want to thank you for supporting this project. 

When I clicked the launch button just 5 short months ago, I had no idea how great the experience would end up being. 

Not only did the project do very well, but the reception has been amazing.  The time and care that you have taken to intricately display your tokens and share them on Twitter has just been astonishing.  I am beyond blown away.

While we had a few minor hiccups along the way, with your patience and understanding we were able to work through them and beat our ship date by more than a month.  I literally could not have done this project without you.

So, please play with your new Tokens and Playmats and continue sharing your experiences and feedback with me. (Action Shots and pictures of Tokens with the original paintings or other uses of the art in the background will be of particular usefulness in the next iteration of the project.)

Where We Go From Here

Speaking of the next iteration of the Classic Art Token Project, work has already started along with two exciting projects slated for 2017. 

The next iteration will have All New Tokens, Popular Tokens with New Art, New Products and more.  We're pretty excited about it already, but it will take some time to put it all together.

We are also working on getting the store set up on originamagicart.com. We don't have an ETA on it yet, but will definitely let you know when it is live.

As we did with this project, we will make every effort to create an exceptional product, provide good communication and fulfill on time.  Hopefully we can count on your support in making these upcoming projects even more successful.

Shipping has Begun!

Actually, the first packages went out on Saturday, but we've been so busy packing rewards that this update was a bit delayed.

We have shipped ~800 of the 1800 Rewards, so we are doing well on getting things out the door. 

Most of those were the really easy ones, so things will slow down a bit as we work through the more intricate orders. 

Right now, it looks like we should have all rewards out by the end of next week, if not sooner.  More than a month ahead of schedule, not too shabby.

Feedback!

I haven't spent much time tracking Rewards yet, but some of you should already have yours by the time this update goes live.

Before you tear into your Tokens and unravel your playmat, be on the lookout for an extra little something that is included with every reward. 

I don't want to give too much away before you get your reward, but I will say it will be very useful if you ever see our booth at an event (GP Portland will be our first).

Tokens Printed - Shipping Soon

Hello friends!

Today I received notification from the printers that the tokens are printed and on their way now.  They will be arriving in the next 2-4 days, so they will be in my hand and able to begin shipping by next Monday, at the latest.

48 Hour Alert

Now that we are so close to fulfillment, you need to make sure that the address you entered in your survey is correct so that I am sending your rewards to you, and not someone else.

After this update goes live, I am going to be sending out at 48 hour notice to all Backers that should include a link to your survey.  If your address has changed since you backed the project, you can change it there.

I will be locking down all Surveys on Friday morning, so it is imperative that you make any changes before then.

We're Making Progress

Today was a pretty good day for us.

After playing the "no we can't approve your $30,000 payment" tango with Paypal for a few days, I was able to wire the money to the printers and production should begin this week. 

3-4 weeks from now, all of the Tokens should be in hand (and all over my garage).  Definitely a good step forward.

Not only that, but I just got these in from Inked Playmats!

While they will have to sit around a while for the tokens to arrive, these playmats are just itching to get some play time.

In the meantime...

Barring unexpected delays, we should begin shipping out rewards in the next 3-4 weeks.  While I'm not sure how long it will take to get through all of the orders, we look to be well ahead of schedule.

We still have several incomplete Surveys (please get these done if you haven't already!!!) and a few Add On payments that need approval, but with surveys locked down, the only step left is to ensure that your address is correct in the system. 

If you will be moving in the next 4-6 weeks, please make sure to update your address before we lock down all accounts prior to shipping.  It's looking like that will happen in about 3 weeks, so please be prepared.

To update your address, you can use the link that was sent out in the Survey or recover your survey through this link: https://classic-art-tokens.backerkit.com/.  If those don't work, just leave a comment below, or message me through Kickstarter and we'll get it fixed.

Here is a rough timeline for the remainder of the project:

• 3-4 Weeks - Lock Down Surveys for Address Changes (We will give 48 hours notice before locking everything down, just in case)
• 3-4 Weeks - Shipping Begins
• 6-8 Weeks - Shipping Ends (Hopefully sooner rather than later)
• Sometime later in 2016 - Classic Art Tokens 2.0
